NTFS (New Technology File System)


NTFS5 is a high-performance and self-healing file system proprietary to Windows XP and Windows 2000.

NTFS4 was used by installations of Windows NT4. It generally does not support plug and play, encryption, or disk quotas.


NTFS5 is used by Windows 2000 and Windows xp and supports plug and play as well as encryption and disk quotas.

NTFS also supports large volumes and powerful storage solutions such as RAID.
