Why Back Up?
Backing up should be a regular part of the routine within any company.
For a technician, backing up can be twofold:
1. Routine backups of the company's data.
2. Backing up before carrying out technical work on a computer.
Backing up procedures should be carried out automatically by any technician and back up media should always be stored in a safe place.
When backing up, a technician should remember that some of the data stored on the backup media could be subject to the Data Protection Act.
When working as a peripatetic worker, a technician should always check to see if the client has any data which requires backing up before starting work on a computer.
